Career Highlights
Extensive civil and criminal trial work since 1990, including over 150 jury trials and non-jury matters numbering in the thousands, if not the tens of thousands.
Former chief elected prosecutor responsible for setting policies and budgets, supervising attorneys and staff and presenting cases in all levels of trial court as well as coordinating efforts with numerous government agencies.
Formerly taught Virginia’s prosecutors as a member of the faculty at the Commonwealth’s Attorneys’ Services Council Trial Advocacy Program.
Lobbied Virginia state government on behalf of prosecutors.
Mentored law, college and high school students with clerkships and practical experience.
Lecturer presenting continuing legal education credits to other attorneys.
Former police officer and Emergency Response Team (SWAT) member gained practical experience useful to current clients.
Graduate of civil and criminal trial schools, including the nationally known Defense Counsel Trial Academy, presented by the International Association of Defense Counsel, and Virginia’s Investigation and Prosecution of Drug Cases (TOPGUN), presented by the Commonwealth’s Attorneys’ Services Council and the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
Honors graduate from Washington & Lee University School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, top 5%) and Emory & Henry College (B.A., summa sum laude, second in class).
